In the spring of 2022, the JD Sheth Foundation partnered with the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) to fund the purchase of appliances and air conditioning units for their four-plex housing unit in St. Louis, MO. The housing unit is part of APEDF’s African Independence Workforce Program which addresses recidivism of formerly incarcerated Black men and women by providing culture-based wraparound services to address basic needs that are critical to the success of individuals rejoining the community. As of May 2022, all the kitchen appliances have been installed and the washer/dryer set has been purchased. The air conditioning units were installed in September 2022.
