Past recipients of our community changers grants
Mesa Compton, Girl Scouts of SW Indiana (2024) - Mesa received a $500 grant from JD Sheth to support her Gold Award project for Girl Scouts. For her project, Mesa worked to revitalize the campground at Angel Mounds State Historical Site in southwestern Indiana. She cleared the overgrown vegetation, created easier access to camp sites, and then added signage and picnic tables. Her project also included adding camping equipment to the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library’s “Library of Things”.
Students Helping Students (2022) - Students Helping Students is a collaborative drive between Benjamin Bosse High School, Washington Middle School, and ESL (English Second Language) teachers in Evansville, IN that is committed to assisting refugee children that have recently relocated to Owensboro, KY. Students Helping Students received a matching grant from JDSF to provide school supplies to help these refugee children integrate into their new schools.
Spreading Kindness with Sophie (2022) - Sophie received a $500 grant from JDSF as a part of our Community Changers Grant Program to purchase hygiene items for Hangers, the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Student Clothing Resource. As school started in August, Sophie delivered 290 hygiene kits in reusable drawstring bags to Hangers. Each kit included shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, and toothpaste. In total, Sophie donated over $1,700 in hygiene supplies, which is almost 1/3 of what Hangers spends on these items each year!
