The JD Sheth Foundation was honored to accept a proposal to complete the construction of the Gresham House in Evansville, IN. The City of Evansville donated this house to John B Gresham's mother after he was killed in World War I. He was the first American to be killed in the war. The 100-year old house was donated to ECHO Housing Corporation to be used as transitional housing for veterans. With the help of The Home Depot, Toyota, other local businesses, and our foundation, the recently remodeled Gresham House provides homeless veterans with housing and a real chance at a positive future. Our foundation donated the money to upgrade the windows to appropriate safety standards for residential housing, one of the final steps in the remodel. In June 2018, the first veterans moved into the Gresham House as part of ECHO’s Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program. Through this program, veterans are able to stay rent-free at the Gresham House for up to six weeks, which allows them to work and save money as they find permanent housing. Six to eight veterans can stay at the house at one time.
